The Russell Cotes cup returned home to Calthorpe Park as holders Fleet Town lifted the trophy for the second year running with a fine 3-0 away win against New Milton Town. Second half headers from Steve Hemmings and Darren Campbell as well as a close range Jermaine Hamilton strike sealed cup victory for the Blues.
An injury time penalty saw the Blues lose to Uxbridge in the semi-final play-off. Despite Ben Wright heading them into the lead and Paul Smith saving a penalty an uncharacteristic under par Fleet performace failed to ignite a game they expected to win. Steve Hemmings dismissal for two yellow cards gave the visitors the advantage that they just about deserved.
A classy lob by Mark Anderson in the 57th minute assured home advantage for Fleet in the play-offs and consigned opponents Slough Town to relegation in a 1-0 win for the Blues. Having survived an early scare when the Rebels missed a penalty the Blues went on to dominate the game and guarantee play-off home advantage.
Congratulations to all at Oxford City who beat Uxbridge with a 34th minute goal to secure promotion to the Premier Division.
