Good afternoon and welcome to Calthorpe Park, the home of the blues. We give a special welcome today to the Directors, players and supporters of Folkestone Invicta. I hope they enjoy the afternoon and have a safe journey home. The last time we met was a hum dinger of a game where both keepers played magnificently to keep the scores even. I must confess it was one of the best nil nil games of football I have seen. With a good win over Leatherhead last Tuesday Andy will be hoping we can add to that and nil nil draws will not be in his thinking. I hope you like our new kit for this season. Replicas can be bought in the shop with the added advantage of personalising your top with number and name if you so wish with all sizes available from little kids to very big men. Please see Stephen for more details. You will also have noticed a new look to the programme for this season and I have already had some very positive comments about how good a read it is. Matt has taken over as editor and he is doing a really great job so thanks Matt. This season we decided not to run a reserve squad. There are some very good reasons for this, some financial and some practical. We have decided to focus a little more effort and resource into the Youth Team and are looking to start a college based scheme next season. It is also our hope that we can raise the standard of Youth football in Fleet and that this will become the basis of our reserve team next season. To compensate and allow squad players football time we have an arrangement with Farnborough Northend our friends just down the road and they will be accommodating our players to give them match time when Andy needs. I will keep you abreast of news but if you do have any spare time have a look at the Youth fixtures and come and support them if you can. As we head off into this new season I would just like to acknowledge the effort made by various people, committees and groups in the club who have worked very hard to get things ready on and off the pitch – thank you very much. Also a very big thank you to our many sponsors and our new First Team sponsor Enterprise Mouchel, whose financial support means that we can build on previous season’s successes – thank you, we can’t did it without you. Finally, many of you will know that I had a mild heart attack a couple of weeks ago. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the very many people who sent messages and cards with encouraging words of care and hope. Lynda and I have really appreciated the concern and care shown. I am grateful to God for the opportunity to tell the story and for the expertise of the Doctors and Nurses who did a fabulous job looking after me. I am reminded just how fragile life is and how so very often we get all our priorities wrong. I now have an opportunity to address this in my own life and with Gods help hope to make a bit more of the time that’s been given to me. First priority this afternoon for our boys is to put another 3 points in the bank. COME ON YOU BLUES Graham Smith.
