Things hit rock bottom for Fleet on Saturday as they missed out against fellow strugglers, Erith & Belvedere, and are now anchored to the foot of the Dr Martens Eastern Division table.
Defeat in Saturday's must-win game leaves Fleet still without a win in over three months, and with plenty to do over the next few weeks as they try to move away from the relegation zone.
Fleet started favourites on Saturday having already beaten Erith twice this season, but boss Mick Catlin had to go into the match without influential wingman, Shaun Hale, grounded after being sent off in the Eastleigh game two weeks ago.
As a replacement for Hale, Catlin had drafted in Army man, Tommy McCormack who had played against Fleet in Tuesday's Aldershot Senior Cup tie against RMSE Borden. Until recently the wingman had been playing at Basingstoke Town and Hayes.
Fleet started brightly and created most of the early running, but neither skipper, Ian Saunders, striker Richard Mealey or McCormack took advantage of their early scoring chances.
For their part, visitors Erith looked dangerous on the break, as experienced strikers, Akpo Sodje and Darren Adams began to test the Fleet defence with several probing runs.
From one such break, Erith took the lead when, on 37 minutes following a strong run by Sodje, midfielder, Michael Horan picking up the loose ball to score with a 20 yard effort which just crept in under the bar in the far corner of the net.
Immediately from the re-start Fleet could have equalised when Craig Anstey crossed brilliantly to unmarked striker, Richard Mealey who just failed to control his header, which flew over the bar.
After the interval Fleet had further chances to square things, but again were unable to find the target. At the other end, Fleet keeper Calvin Sparshatt kept his side in the game with a brilliant save from Erith's Ryan Biggs.
Erith then went further ahead on 62 minutes, Sodje heading in following a free-kick, for his 13th league goal of the season. Sodje's strike-partner, Adams then added a third with only 12 minutes remaining, with a brilliant lob to seal the match for the visitors.
Fleet were then denied a consolation goal in the dying minutes, when the referee ruled out Mealey's header, after the striker had beaten the Erith keeper following a corner.
