A three goal blast in ten minutes mid-way through the second half sealed this match for the in-form visitors, Walton & Hersham.
Coming into the game on the back of an 8-match winning sequence, third place Walton were always going to prove tough opponents to a Fleet side who were once again missing several key players.
With Andy Sinton controlling things from the touch-line, Fleet's mid-field struggled throughout as the visitors launched attack after attack on the Fleet goal.
The opener came after only 10 minutes when mid-fielder, Lee Riddell picked up a loose ball from a corner and fired in a low, scorching 35 yard drive, which was too good for Fleet keeper, Paul Smith.
The visitors could then have added several more as they took firm control of the game. Chance after chance went begging, as somehow Fleet managed to keep the scoring down to the single goal by half-time.
It was more of the same after the break, but this time the finishing was better, as the visitors stretched their lead with three quality goals in the space of 10 minutes.
First, striker Scott Edgar netted on 58 minutes after a concerted period of pressure on the Fleet goal. Five minutes later, Carl Hughes made it 3-0 with a header from a free-kick from the left.
Hughes then added his second 6 minutes later, this time a defensive error giving the pacy striker time to round his marker and fire in past Smith from a tight angle.
At the other end Fleet created very few scoring opportunities, and only some dogged defence work prevented the rampant Walton side from adding any further goals.
