A strong second half showing and two great finishes by striker, Mark Tompkins, brought visitors, Whyteleafe a deserved win and left Fleet Town struggling near the relegation zone.
Fleet had earlier taken the lead when on 26 minutes, wingman Tinoi Christie scrambled home a loose ball, following a corner. This after Tompkins should have opened the scoring for the visitors, five minutes earlier, when presented with a clear target from only 8 yards out.
Fleet then clung on to their lead without looking threatening, but with a minute to go in the half failed to clear, and Lee Sidwell was able to strike well past Fleet keeper, Justin Gray from 15 yards.
Fleet manager, Paul Holden rang the changes in the second-half, and sub, David Ocquaye went close after a good passing move. But Whyteleafe keeper, James Wastell was just able to gather in the striker's shot to keep the scores level.
With 10 minutes to go, the visitors then raised the tempo, and with Fleet's defence under pressure, Tompkins netted twice in four minutes to seal the match.
For his first on 81 minutes, Tompkins just managed to pick up a loose ball and finished well from 15 yards, with a curling shot into the bottom corner of the goal.
Four minutes later, Tompkins scored his second with an even better finish, this time curling the ball into the top right hand corner from a similar position, giving Gray no chance in the Fleet goal.
