A fine strike six minutes from time by Fleet wingman, Tinoi Christie secured this win for Fleet to draw them away from the relegation area. The pacy New Zealander proved quite a handful for the Casuals defence all afternoon, ably supported by the passing skills of Andy Sinton.
It was a long pass from the ex-England international which created his side's winner, although Christie still had plenty to do to beat Casuals' keeper, Gareth Williams. But the wingman cleverly delayed his shot to defeat the young keeper, and score from a narrow angle.
Sinton had also played a part in Fleet's opener in the 8th minute, his corner being headed home by unmarked skipper, Andy Darnton, who rose above the Casuals defence. A purposeful Fleet side then took control and could have added more, but were let down by some poor passing.
Gradually the visitors fought back in the game, and perhaps should have made more of a couple of good chances near the end of the half, the best falling to mid-fielder, Chris Malik. Earlier a shot by wingman Jamie Byatt needed a fine save from Fleet keeper, Paul Smith.
After the break Casuals mid-fielder, Chris Horwood equalised when his speculative shot from 20 yards in the 54th minute defeated Smith in the Fleet goal.
Fleet continued to press, and could have gone ahead 10 minutes later when a powerful shot by Phil Archbold was just turned round the post by Williams. But in the end, Christie's finishing skill brought Fleet the deserved three points.
