Report by Steve Cantle

Fleet Town completed their pre-season programme in fine style beating Ryman League side, Egham Town by a clear margin. Boss Andy Sinton now has a clear week to complete his side’s preparations for the new season which starts with a difficult away trip to former Ryman Premier side, Tonbridge Angels next Saturday.

Who will be in Sinton’s line-up on Saturday still remains unclear, but he would have been impressed by new hopeful, Josh Millar from Aldershot, who started up front with Nathan Smart. Millar was in action early on, as he latched on to a cross from the left by Tinoi Christie, but the youngster failed to trouble Egham keeper, Elliott Hind with his shot.

Fleet pressure eventually produced the breakthrough on 24 minutes from a corner, taken by Fleet’s Terry Davies. Wingman, Christie rose about the Egham defence to score with a header into the top corner.

Ten minutes later Egham equalised, when against the run of play, winger, Mo Shugáa picked up a loose ball and neatly lobbed the advancing Fleet keeper, Justin Gray.

Fleet came out strongly after the interval and regained the lead on 47 minutes, Millar heading in well, from a cross from Smart. Fleet then took control and could have gone further ahead after Smart just failed to connect with a fine cross from mid-fielder, Alfie Bonsu.

At the other end Gray saved well from Egham’s Marc Sims, who was then promptly substituted. Egham defender, Alan Bailey then shot wide from 15 yards after some good play by his side’s front-men.

With five minutes to go Fleet made it 3-1, Smart having plenty of time to tap home a rebound after a great cross from the left by Christie. Egham striker, Levi Colman then got one back for the visitors, before sub striker, Eddie Smith fired home his side’s fourth in the final minute.
