Four goals for in-form Fleet
Report by Steve Cantle
Four goals against 3rd place Dulwich lifted in-form Fleet to the league top-spot after this fast-paced thriller.
On 8 minutes Mid-fielder, Michael Douglas opened the scoring for Fleet, from close-range, following a neat move with mid-field partner, Phil John. This after Dulwich striker, Chris Dickson was presented with his side's best chance of the game in the opening minute, but his shot went wide.
After going ahead, Fleet took control, with both James Mann and skipper, Steve Hemmings going close with headers. Dickson was the pick of the visitors and after great work by wingman, Phil Williams, he equalised against the run of play, on 27 minutes.
With ten minutes of the half remaining, the visitors were reduced to ten men, defender, Gavin Dayes shown red following an off-the-ball incident with Fleet sub striker, Ed Smith.
Four minutes later it was Smith who forced his side back in the lead after running on to a header from Mann, following a free-kick.
Fleet forged ahead after the break with two quick goals, the first on 51 minutes by new signing, Darren Campbell, after collecting a fine pass from Smith.
Straight from the re-start, Fleet extended their lead, John picking up a loose ball and after a dogged run, lobbed the ball over a stranded, Chris Lewington in the Dulwich goal.
Lewington was kept busy for the rest of the game, saving well from Campbell, and at the other end Fleet keeper, Justin Gray made several fine saves after Dulwich showed great spirit and carried on attacking right to the final whistle.
Fleet are in cup action again tonight (Tuesday) when they entertain Ryman North side, Enfield, at Calthorpe park in the third round of the Westview (Ryman) League Cup. Kick off is 7.45pm.
