Two goals in each half brought Met Police the spoils against promotion-chasing Fleet. In what could have been a goal-feast for both sides, Fleet failed to convert their much-greater possession into goals.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 9th minute, striker, Adolf Amoako netting from close range, after Fleet failed to clear from a corner. Five minutes later Fleet keeper Paul Smith saved well from Tony Finn, after a strong move down the left side. The pacy wingman was the pick of the visitors, and when he broke clear down the left on 44 minutes, his left-footed strike flew into the goal past a diving Smith.
Fleet came out strongly after the interval. On 50 minutes, Fleet’s Phil John pegged back his side’s deficit to one goal with a brilliant individual effort, easily running past his marker to score from a tight angle.
For the next 15 minutes Fleet completely dominated the play. Shots from James Mann and Adam Wallace went close, the latter bringing a fine save from Met keeper, Will Packham.
On 68 minutes the visitors went further ahead, Finn again shaking off several tackles for sub, Craig Brown to score from close range.
Fleet continued to press hard, but the visitors’ defence held firm to prevent them getting back in the match. In the final minute, Carl Hutchings netted a fourth for Met Police, after Smith failed to gather a free-kick.
