Report by Steve Cantle
It was such an exciting evening with our side outplaying the league runners-up for almost all of the 90 minutes.
A second-half goal looked to have done it for Fleet, scored by Phil John in the 75th minute. It was still 1-0 to Fleet after 4 minutes of injury time, but then inexplicably T&M equalised.
You can imagine how the Fleet support felt after that one went in. But worse was to come when T&M scored again 30 seconds later. Tragedy, as it looked like a Play-off final against Hastings would be our reward. Cruel outcome beyond belief, with many of the Fleet lads in tears afterwards.
The turning point in the game was in the 82nd minute when striker Tony Reid had a clear chance of taking Fleet to 2-0, after a great run from strike partner, Adam Wallace. Unfortunately Reid scuffed his close-range shot with only the keeper to beat.
A second goal then would have sealed things for Fleet.
So now its on to Bournemouth on Saturday for the County Cup final.....
