Two wins from two at Krooner Park

Fleet Town made the short trip across to Camberley for the second time in quick succession, returning to Krooner Park for a league encounter after their recent victory there in the Premier League Cup.

On a blustery afternoon, both sides had to contend with difficult playing conditions, but Fleet adapted better to the swirling wind, showing composure and determination to secure another valuable three points on the road.

It was the first time this season that Fleet Town had fallen behind in a league game. After just seven minutes, Camberley’s Josh Ewing was brought down by Fleet goalkeeper Sam Gray inside the area, and the referee pointed to the spot. Callum Kenny stepped up confidently and struck his penalty low into the bottom left corner to give the home side an early 1–0 lead.

Despite the setback, Fleet responded well, quickly regaining control of possession and creating several clear-cut chances. Camberley goalkeeper Dom West was called into action on sixteen minutes, producing a smart save to deny a low drive from Fleet’s forward line. As the half progressed, the visitors continued to press. On thirty-three minutes, a curling effort looked destined for the top corner before the wind cruelly diverted it wide. Moments later, another strike rolled inches past the post as Fleet pushed for an equaliser.

Their pressure finally paid off in the forty-fifth minute when Theo White found space inside the box and coolly slotted home to level the score at 1–1. That goal lifted Fleet, and they continued to surge forward in stoppage time. Deep into added time, Camberley failed to clear a dangerous set piece and the loose ball fell kindly to Ollie Burke, who lashed it into the net to give Fleet a deserved 2–1 lead at the break.

Camberley made changes early in the second half, hoping to disrupt Fleet’s rhythm, while the visitors remained settled with their starting eleven. On sixty-one minutes, Camberley thought they had equalised when Kenny again found the net, but celebrations were cut short by the assistant referee’s raised flag for offside. The home side made further substitutions in search of a breakthrough, yet Fleet’s defensive organisation and game management held firm.

Although neither team managed to add to the scoreline, Fleet Town’s first-half goals proved enough to secure victory. The result keeps Fleet firmly in third place in the table, maintaining pressure on the sides above them. With a small cushion beginning to form below, Fleet can take confidence from another solid performance and their growing consistency in both league and cup competitions.
