Darren McGrath becomes Fleet Town FC Chairman
Fleet Town FC are delighted to confirm the appointment of Darren McGrath as the club’s new Chairman. Having previously served as Vice Chairman since 2019, Darren now steps into the role as the club continues building towards an exciting new chapter both on and off the pitch.
Darren has been part of the Fleet Town journey for well over a decade, first becoming involved through the youth section shortly after moving to the area in 2014. Starting out coaching within Fleet Town Colts, he played a key role in developing successful youth teams before later serving three seasons as Chairman of the Colts section, helping oversee the growth and development of one of the area’s largest grassroots setups.
His involvement with the club has continued to grow ever since, becoming a driving force behind a number of important developments both on and off the pitch. From supporting the rebuild and expansion of the Women’s section, to helping strengthen the club’s long-term structure and commercial foundations, Darren has been heavily involved in shaping the direction of Fleet Town FC in recent years.
Alongside the wider board and volunteer team, Darren has also helped oversee major projects including the club’s long-term governance restructure, work towards the FA’s highest level of accreditation for clubs at this level, the continued growth of inclusive football initiatives and the strengthening of ties between the youth and senior sections under a genuine “one club” philosophy.
Speaking on his appointment, Darren McGrath said:
“It’s a real honour to become Chairman of Fleet Town FC. This is a football club with huge potential, fantastic people and a genuine place at the heart of the community. We have a lot of hard work ahead of us, but I’m proud to be leading the club into a new era and excited about what we can achieve together.”
He added:
“I’ve seen first-hand what this football club means to people, from the youth section right through to the senior sides and supporters. There is a huge amount of potential here and we’re determined to keep building something the whole town can be proud of.”
The club continues to work hard behind the scenes as preparations for the new season gather pace, with more exciting announcements regarding the club’s leadership and pre-season plans to follow over the coming weeks.
