    Frequently asked questions

Find answers to frequently asked questions about the FTFC Academy football and education programme, including qualifications, football development, entry requirements and how to apply.

    What qualification will I achieve?

Students will work towards the NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport & Physical Activity, a two-year qualification equivalent in size to three A-levels.

    How long is the programme?

The programme runs over two academic years, with the first FTFC Academy intake starting in September 2027.

    How will I be assessed?

The course is coursework-based and covers 18 units over two years, combining the science and practical application of sport with career-focused learning.

Can I go to university afterwards?

Yes. The qualification can support applications to higher education and carries up to 168 UCAS tariff points, depending on the final grade. Universities and individual courses set their own entry requirements.

    Who oversees the education?

The educational programme is delivered by iDFA in partnership with Ranelagh School, which is responsible for student registration and quality assurance. Students will be supported by dedicated tutors.

    How often will I train?

The example weekly timetable includes regular football training alongside strength and conditioning, performance analysis, match preparation and recovery. The final timetable will be confirmed before the programme starts.

    Will I play competitive matches?

Yes. Students will have opportunities to represent Fleet Town FC in competitive fixtures as part of the new Academy teams.

Is the Academy open to girls?

Absolutely. The programme is open to boys and girls aged 16–18 and supports our ambition to develop pathways towards both the men’s and women’s First Teams.

Is this the same as Fleet Town’s existing Under-18s team?

No. FTFC Academy is a new daytime education and football programme. The club’s existing Under-18s team continues as a separate part of our football structure and is no longer referred to as the Under-18s Academy.

Will joining guarantee a place in the First Team?

No. The Academy aims to develop players and create opportunities for progression, but advancement to our First Teams depends on each player’s football development, performance and selection.

    Will performance technology be used?

The planned programme includes Veo video analysis and PlayerData GPS-based performance tracking to support feedback and player development.
