Caroline Bone to step down as Chairperson at the end of 25/26 season
Fleet Town Football Club can confirm that, after many years of active involvement with the club and six seasons as Chairperson, Caroline Bone has taken the decision to step down from her role at the end of the current season.
Caroline first stepped into the role during the 2020–21 season at a challenging time for the club and has since played a central part in helping stabilise and rebuild Fleet Town both on and off the pitch. During her tenure the club has continued to grow across the men’s, women’s and youth sections, while also strengthening its position within the local community and improving the overall matchday experience at the Easy as HGV Stadium.
Reflecting on her time as Chair, Caroline said:
“I fell into this role when no one else wanted it for the 2020–21 season. We had already made some inroads into bringing this club back to where it belongs, but there was still plenty to do. Being a newbie there would always be those bumps and curve balls to keep you on your toes, with lots of learning along the way. It has certainly been a journey, and I hope people can see the difference we have made.”
The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks and appreciation for Caroline’s tireless work and energy across every aspect of Fleet Town FC. Her contribution has been felt throughout the club, from supporting the men’s, women’s and youth teams on the pitch to the countless hours spent helping with matchdays, bar operations, logistics, community initiatives and charity activity behind the scenes.
Caroline also wanted to recognise the people who have supported her during her time in the role:
“To our amazing volunteers who have given me countless hours of your time most weeks over the years, thank you. To management teams and players, past and present, thank you for the memories. To the fans, the best there is. You are all naughty, but the best! And finally to my family, Tommy, Trix and TJ. I really couldn’t have done it without you and your continued support.”
Caroline leaves the role having helped guide Fleet Town through an important period, and the club is in a far stronger position than when she first stepped into the Chair. The board now has a solid base from which to continue building for the future.
Caroline will remain in post until the end of the season and the club looks forward to sharing the remainder of the campaign with her. Further updates regarding board structure and any future appointments will be shared in due course.
To our supporters and the wider community, please rest assured that Fleet Town Football Club is in a strong position, and plans are already in place for the club to continue moving forward together and to grow both as a football club and as an important community asset.
On behalf of everyone at Fleet Town FC…
