MATCH REPORT: Fleet Town Collect Three Points At Spelthorne
Fleet Town collected another 3 points on the road on Saturday to maintain their unbeaten start to the league season. Fleet with three wins and one draw from their four games played are one of three unbeaten sides in the division.
Fleet Town were forced into some changes for this match, as a result of recent Red cards making players unavailable, however they started the game strongly as they took the game to bottom of the table Spelthorne Sports, it was good wing play from Fareed Hakeem-Habeeb that opened up Spelthorne and forced the home sides Jaan Stanley into conceding an own goal inside the first five minutes, to put Fleet ahead. With Fareed on one wing and Danilo Cadete on the other Fleet set up more chances which were snuffed out by some strong defending. It was against the general run of the play that Spelthorne pulled themselves level just before half time from a corner, through Daniel Watts. Spelthorne seemed happy and relieved to go into the interval on level terms at 1-1.
Fleet Town came out for the second half determined to keep Spelthorne out and push on for the win and the half was only eight minutes old when a fantastic strike from twenty-five yards out by Matt Surmon flew into the net to put Fleet back in front. While the score remained at 2-1 Spelthorne still had some hope of finding another equaliser, but that hope was killed of by Chike Kandi with a well taken goal after seventy minutes to give Fleet a two goal cushion that they were able to hold on to and see out a fine 3-1 victory, which lifted Fleet back up to 10th place in the table and still with four to six games in hand on sides around them.
