Match Report: Fleet Bring Back Three Points & Clean Sheet From Cobham
Fleet Town extended their unbeaten start to the League season on Saturday at Cobham, in a game they did not dominate as they have others recently, Fleet still found a way to win and collect another three points to lift them up to 6th in the Combined Counties Premier Division South table.
Fleet Town gave a debut to keeper Finlay Purcell, who was once on the books of Arsenal, signed this week following his release by AFC Dunstable and Finley proved to be the hero of the first half, with Cobham having most of the possession and creating chances almost at will, Finlay was able to keep out everything that Cobham threw at Fleet.
The chances that Cobham wasted came back to bite them in the end as Fleet Town got all the luck going in the last quarter of the game, after exciting play from Fareed Hakeem-Habeeb there was a scramble in the Cobham goalmouth, the home side could not clear the danger and Dean Rule was on hand to get the ball over the line and put Fleet Town ahead. Dean Rule doubled Fleet’s advantage later when he scored from the Penalty spot, to secure the win and points for Fleet Town, even with Dean’s decisive goals, Man of The Match went to Finlay Purcell for his clean sheet.
Manager Darryl Evans commented after the game “Some teams have to win ugly every now and again, you can’t always go out there and blast teams away.”
