Match Report: Fleet Town 2-1 Cobham
Fleet town welcomed Cobham down to The Mustard Seed Stadium on a cool Tuesday night for this Combined Counties premier League South Division fixture.
In an even start to the game, both sides were probing each others defences without creating any clear chances for twenty minutes when Callum Smart was called into action to make the first save of the game. A few minutes later, Fleet had their best chance so far at the other end, the ball into Louis Blake was flicked on to Connor Young, but his shot flew wide. Fleet broke the deadlock on 29 minutes when Mihail Marinescu was through and volleyed the ball into the net. A couple of minutes before half time, Fleet had a convincing Penalty shout, with all the players and many supporters screaming for an Handball decision, the referee waved it away and play continued, Cobham took the ball straight down the other end and the referee gave them a Penalty, taken by Ben Senior he fired the ball into the bottom right of the net as Callum Smart dived the opposite way. The half time whistle blew with the score 1-1.
After an hour Mihail Marinescu was hauled down in the box and this time the referee awarded the penalty to Fleet, taken by Connor Young he also stroked the ball into the bottom right corner of the net to put Fleet back into the lead. Fleet survived some Cobham pressure but could not extend their lead either and the game finished with a 2-1 win for Fleet Town.
