two clean sheets in a week lift fleet to 3rd

On a damp Saturday afternoon at The Easy As HGV Stadium, Fleet Town picked up their second three points and second clean sheet of the week, with a 3-0 win, lifting them up to third place in the early season league table, though some sides have played less games than Fleet Town, at the moment.

For most of the game there were chances at both ends, the first shot of the match came early from Michael Dixon for Chipstead, but his effort was blocked and cleared by the Fleet defense. Fleet soon had a free kick in a dangerous position to the left of the Penalty area, taken by Seanan McKillop he lifted the ball over towards the far post, the visitors keeper Muhammed Ibrahim Otuyo jumped up and was just able to get a punch on the ball before it reached one of the waiting Fleet heads.

Pressure from Fleet attacks forced Chipstead to concede a string of corners, from one of these taken by Sean Swift found Seanan McKillop in space to have a good shot, but his effort was luckily deflected for another corner. After Thirty-Two minutes as Chipstead tried to play the ball out from the back, it was intercepted by Sam Bartlett, he controlled the ball, made space for himself and fired the ball past Muhammed Ibrahim Otuyo into the goal and give Fleet Town the lead. Only Muhammed Ibrahim Otuyo kept Chipstead in the game as he made stops to efforts by Andy Matthews and Seanan McKillop before half time. The visitors carved out a couple of chances just before the break, a shot by Kamran Campbell was saved low down by Sam Gray and a cross from the left found Pele Dunn in space on the right side of the box, but he rushed his shot and it flew harmlessly high and wide of the goal. Fleet went into the interval still holding their narrow 1-0 advantage.

A quick start to the second half by the visitors as they looked for an early goal to get back into the game, Connor French shot just past the outside of the post. Fleet continued to keep Chipstead at bay and create some chances of their own, Andy Matthews brought the ball forward and played it on to Seanan McKillop, his cross was put behind for another corner to Fleet, this was played in and fell to Andy Matthews, his effort was blocked but the loose ball ran back to him to try again and Chipstead were able to block his effort and put it behind for another corner.

After Eighty minutes Fleet were awarded a Penalty after a coming together in the box, as several Chipstead players were arguing their case to the referee, their keeper had taken the ball and was walking around the box with it under his shirt and going up to the spot trying to rub it out and was left astonished to get a Yellow card for his antics. Charlie Postance took the Penalty kick for Fleet and buried it into the back of the net to double Fleet’s lead. Within a minute of the restart Chipstead had a Penalty of their own, when sub Samuel Williams was running down the middle of the pitch and went down as Sam Gray came out to meet him. Samuel Williams took the kick himself and Sam Gray went the right way to make the save. After Eighty-Eight minutes another corner for Fleet Town, taken by Sean Swift he hit the ball in low to the feet of Charlie Postance who blasted the ball home for his second and Fleet’s third goal of the afternoon. With what seems usual ten minutes of added time at the end of the half there was time for more chances, George Sellick for Fleet set up a chance for Hadif Darwysh, his shot being saved down at the foot of the post. Chipstead did little to win friends when they set off some pushing and shoving by pushing Fleet keeper Sam Gray into his goal when he had the ball in his hands. When Fleet cleared the ball away into midfield the referee blew and brought the game to a close with a 3-0 win for Fleet Town.
