Match Report: Fleet Town Salvage A Point Against Epsom & Ewell

Fleet Town went into this match looking to stay unbeaten in the league and keep up the pressure on the sides above them in the table, while Epsom and Ewell were looking to continue their improved form which had seen them pull off three successive 2-2 draws, including against top side Redhill.
Fleet Town started the game pushing forward and looking for an early goal and after a good team move the ball found its way to Matt Surmon, who converted his chance to open the scoring and give Fleet the lead after ten minutes. Fleet only held the lead for a couple of minutes, Epsom attacked down the right and Ali Fofahan crossed the ball into the six yard box where they had two players waiting to receive the ball, a Fleet defender ran back towards his own goal, coming between the two Epsom players he stuck out a leg, although this stopped either of the home players from reaching the ball, the ball flew past Finlay Purcell into his own net and Epsom were level. Although Epsom then had more of the ball and more chances than Fleet, it was Fleet Town that came closest to scoring again in the first half when Tane Caubo fired a shot an inch past the outside of the post and the game remained at 1-1 until half time.
The second half started with Epsom looking dangerous but could not find a way to score against a strong Fleet back line until the seventy minute mark when a run down the right, the ball was hit over beyond the Fleet defenders where Carl Oblitey ran into the box behind them and nodded the ball into the net to give Epsom the lead and become the fist side to score 2 against Fleet Town in the league this season. Into the final minutes Fleet started to dominate more of the game to create some chances and the vital chance fell to substitute Dan Bone, he collected a cross ball and picked his spot to fire the ball home into the bottom corner of the net for the equaliser. There was a very short time left for Fleet Town to look for an unlikely winner but Epsom held out to hold on for their fourth successive 2-2 draw and Fleet had to settle for picking up just one point.
In other matches leaders Redhill were well beaten to lose their unbeaten status, leaving just Jersey Bulls and Fleet Town as the last unbeaten sides in the division.
