Match Report: Spelthorne Sports 1-4 Fleet Town

Spelthorne went into this game looking to rebuild their season after the league had imposed an eight point deduction on them this week, which had dropped them down into the bottom four. However they were outplayed by Fleet Town who stretched their unbeaten run to five, with a forth consecutive win.

Despite their early pressure, it took Fleet 28 minutes to break the deadlock, when Mihail Marinescu brought the ball down the right flank and then cut into the box, calmly assessing his options took a shot himself and smashed the ball just inside the near post to give Fleet Town the lead. Only five minutes late Spelthorne were level when Daniel Watts scored for the home side and the game stayed at 1-1 until half time.

Fleet Town regained the lead in the first minute when Argjend Ahmetaj played a pinpoint ball into the box in the perfect position for Dan Bone to turn the ball into the net to put Fleet 2-1 ahead. More chances came and went for Fleet to extend their advantage, which eventually came in unusual style, when from another Fleet attack, the ball went wide for a goal kick to Spelthorne on 68 minutes, their keeper Bob Honey took the kick low up-field and managed to hit Mihail Marinescu on the back, the ball rebounded wide of Bob Honey and despite desperate attempt to reach the ball by home defender Oliver Davison to clear it, the ball went over the line for another goal to Fleet Town. Fleet brought on more fresh legs off the bench to consolidate and hold on to the winning score line, Fleet Town scored a further goal after 86 minutes when Bradley Pegg brought the ball out of defence and seeing the home keeper out of the goal hit the ball into the box from halfway and watched as it looped over Bob Honey into the net to make the score 4-1 to Fleet and secured another three points.
