Matt Surmon commits to the Blues ahead of the 2024/25 season!
Fleet Town Football Club is thrilled to announce that Matt Surmon will be staying with the club for the upcoming season. As one of our key players, Matt’s commitment to Fleet Town FC is a significant boost as we prepare for an exciting year ahead.
Matt has been an integral part of our squad, since his arrival from Flackwell Heath back in November. He has also become a fans favourite at the club in no time at all. Not only is Matt a big presence in our midfield, but he also plays a crucial role in the changing room. His character and professionalism make him an invaluable asset to the team.
We spoke to Matt on how he feels to be back at FTFC for another season:
“I’m delighted to be returning to Fleet for the upcoming 24/25 season. Since Ells and Darryl brought me to the club at the start of November I didn’t look back. It was an easy decision for me to commit for next year, I’m back to loving my football and feel that something special will happen at Fleet this season!
Since day 1 I’ve had the trust from the management team to go out and perform. It took me a few games to get up to fitness but they stuck by me and I feel as though I repaid them with honest and hard working performances. I’m looking to build on this next season and take the club back to step 4 where it belongs!
As I just mentioned the goal for the season, as a collective, is to compete at the top and get promoted! Last season we showed promotion form on multiple occasions but ultimately fell short. I’m hoping with a few additions and less injuries to the team we can build on the good patches of form and take it into next season. On a personal note, I’ll be looking to add more goals and assists to my game next year. Ending the season with 3 in 2, I hope this run of form carries into the 24/25 campaign!
Finally to the fans, thank you so much for the support last season! The numbers we get through the gates home and away is special and it truly doesn’t go unnoticed by anyone. We hope to repay your support with success in the 24/25 season and I can’t wait to get back out there in front of you all!”
