Darryl’s thoughts after yesterdays victory away at Tadley

Darryl Evans gave his thoughts after yesterdays 3-0 win againts Tadley Calleva away from home.

We knew going into this game that Tadley Calleva, also pushing for the playoffs, would pose a tough challenge. After a frustrating 1-1 draw against Abbey Rangers, we needed a response, especially with two players still sidelined from the Horley game.

Fair play to the lads, they delivered in style.

From the first whistle, we dominated and never allowed Tadley a foothold in the game. We started brilliantly, with Josh Stepney opening the scoring with a wonderfully executed free kick after fantastic work from Chike and Dean Rule, who won a free kick on the edge of the box.

Just before half-time, we doubled our lead with a well-executed counterattack from a Tadley corner, converted by Kandi giving us a strong 2-0 advantage at the break. Credit to the back four, they were rock solid throughout and set the tempo for the team.

We were well aware that Tadley have staged comebacks in recent games, so we expected pressure in the second half. However, we stayed composed, didn’t give them a chance, and sealed the result with another goal from our top scorer, Dean Rule.

We even had another excellent team goal ruled out by a dubious offside decision, but it didn’t take away from a fantastic performance.

I’m delighted with both the result and the reaction after the Abbey Rangers game. The win keeps us firmly in the playoff positions, 11 points clear with six games in hand over our nearest rivals.

Next up, we face Sheerwater, who are in form with some great results lately. It’s another opportunity to keep this run going, finish the season strongly, and hit the business end in top shape and full of confidence.

A huge thank you to our travelling supporters once again, your backing makes all the difference!
