Tadley Calleva 0 Fleet Town 3
Fleet Town collected three more points on the road at Tadley on Saturday with this well earned victory, three different goal scorers and a clean sheet.
After a steady start to this match, Fleet won a free kick just outside the left corner of the box, Josh Stepney took charge to take the kick, faced by a three man wall, the other Tadley defenders and Fleet attackers all positioned over the other side of the box, started their runs across as Josh Stepney advanced to take the kick, Josh curled the ball over the wall, well out of the reach of Craig Atkinson, into the top corner of the net to give Fleet a Seventeenth minute lead. Fleet could have doubled their advantage after Thirty-Five minutes, a well delivered corner kick found a Fleet head in the box, the ball was headed down to the ground and bounced up and needed Alex Miller to clear the ball off the line to deny Fleet Town.
Late in the half it was Tadley Calleva’s turn to have a free kick in a dangerous position near the box, Tadley contrived to lose position and Fleet powered forward on the counter attack, with Chike Kandi advancing he clipped the ball past a defender and collected the ball to smash it onto the net to make the score 2-0 after Forty-Four minutes. This remained the score at the break.
Tadley came out for the second half with the ambition of a quick start to find a way back into the game, but they were unable to find a break through, before Fleet added a third goal after Fifty-Four minutes when a low cross into the box was tapped home by Dean Rule. Fleet kept up the pressure but were unable to add any further goals, utilising all five substitutes to see the game out.
Fleet Town remain in a comfortable fifth place, eight points behind Cobham with eight games in hand, a gap the Fleet would hope to close as they play twice before Cobham have another league game, Fleet Town extended the gap to 11 points over sixth placed side Knaphill, there is currently no sign of any of the chasing pack being able to close in on the play off positions.
Fleet Town are away again next Saturday, visiting mid table side Sheerwater.
