Darryl Evans gave his thoughts ahead of this weekends match against Alton in the Combined Counties Premier Division South.

After last week’s historic FA Vase victory, we now turn our focus to the busy festive period, beginning with Saturday’s highly anticipated local derby against Alton.

While Alton currently sit 18th in the table, we are under no illusions about the challenge ahead. This is a team with a point to prove, especially after holding us to a 1-1 draw at our place earlier this season, a game they might feel they should have won.

Adding to the occasion is the presence of several former Fleet Town players in their ranks, who have moved for more game time and will undoubtedly be motivated to impress. Combine that with the intensity of a derby, and we know we’re in for a tough battle away from home.

For us, however, the objective is clear: 3 points to maintain our momentum and keep building toward next week’s big clash against Jersey Bulls. The lads have recovered well after last week’s exertions and put in an excellent training session on Thursday, focused on game scenarios and preparing for this demanding period of fixtures.

I’m confident in the squad’s focus and determination, but we’ll need your support more than ever. As a local derby, I know we’ll have a strong travelling fan base, and your energy from the stands will be key in helping us get over the line.
