Knaphill 3 Fleet Town 1
For the first time this season Fleet Town suffered back to back League defeats as Knaphill take the three points in what was their last home game of the season.
After an even start to the game, where both sides probed each other’s defences, Fleet Town found themselves a goal down when Ross Murdoch scored for the home side after Twenty-Two minutes, when he pounced on a loose ball that TJ had cleared off the line from an earlier shot. Late in the first half Fleet Town levelled the score after a shot from Leo Decabo came back off the woodwork and Tane Caubo was there to head the ball past Samuel Gray. The half time interval came with the score 1-1 leaving both sides with the hope of winning the second half.
Knaphill retook the lead after Sixty Three minutes when Knaphill brought the ball up the middle and several Knaphill players had touches as they ran through the Fleet defence and set up James Glover to shoot from the right edge of the D across the goal into the bottom left corner of the net. In the final minutes a counter attack by Knaphill saw a long ball played up the middle and although Finley Purcell saved from the first player the ball ran loose and Knaphill got the ball back into Matt Copland to slide the ball into the net from close range, to complete the scoring and seal the 3-1 victory for Knaphill.
Despite this win and being only one place below Fleet Town, Knaphill cannot catch Fleet and make the play offs this season, the only sides that are close enough and have enough games left to catch Fleet are Tooting & Mitcham and Tadley Calleva.
Fleet Town now face a trip to league leaders Redhill on Saturday.
