Match Report: Fleet Town 4 Midhurst & Easeborne 1

Dan Bone hat trick sends Fleet through to round two of the Aldershot Senior Cup!

On a cold Tuesday night, at The Easy As HGV Stadium, Fleet Town took on Southern Combination Premier side Midhurst & Easeborne in the first round of this season’s Aldershot Senior Cup.

After a steady start as the two sides probed each other out, the game turned in favour of Fleet Town after a quarter of an hour, when a challenge on Lekan Osideko, in the box, saw a Penalty awarded to Fleet Town. Dan Bone stepped up and stroked the penalty into the bottom right corner of the net, to give Fleet Town the lead on sixteen minutes. Only two minutes later Fleet doubled their advantage when Lekan Osideko ran through into the box, the Midhurst keeper advanced to stand big and face Lekan Osideko, but his position left a gap which Lekan took full advantage of and slotted the ball between the keepers legs into the net to make it 2-0. Lewis Rustall pulled a goal back for Midhurst just before half time, in the end this proved to be no more than a consolation for their efforts on the night. Fleet Town went into the interval with a 2-1 lead.

Eleven minutes into the second half, Dan Bone was waiting in the box and the ball was crossed in to him, Dan turned and fired the ball into the goal for his second and Fleet’s third goal of the evening. Dan was then chasing the ball around looking for his hat trick, but had to wait until the fifth minute of added time when sub Aaron Petch played the ball into the box, Dan Bone was there to steer the ball past the Midhurst keeper and complete his hat trick and a 4-1 victory for Fleet Town and a place in the last eight.
