Match Report: Wokingham & Emmbrook 3-1 Fleet Town

Fleet Town crashed out of the Combined Counties League Cup at the First Round stage to Premier North side Wokingham & Emmbrook.

Fleet used the game to give some minutes to fringe and young players in the squad including first team competitive debuts for Tommy J Taylor from the start and Dan Blake off the bench. The home side took the lead on 19 minutes when Sam Martin turned in a long throw. Early in the second half a shot from Tommy Taylor was blocked but ran loose to Connor Young, who made sure the ball ended up in the net to bring Fleet level. With time running out and still level as peoples thoughts turned to a potential penalty shoot out. Jaime Goodwin let fly a shot from outside of the box, into the net to put Wokingham back in front after 86 minutes. As Fleet pushed forward looking for a second equaliser a break from the home side five minutes into added time, saw Joao Jardim score a third for the hosts. Wokingham used the little time left to make the rest of their substitutions to run the clock down and see out the victory.

After the game it was confirmed that Fleet Manager Jermaine McGlashan and Assistant Chris Zebroski were leaving the club to take over at AFC Croydon Athletic.
