U12 Panthers beat rivals Mole Valley to win League Cup
On Sunday 2nd March, the Surrey County Women’s and Girls League Cup Final was held at the South Park Sports Club in Reigate. Fleet Town’s U12 Panthers were up against Mole Valley Girls U12 Whites, and the Fleet team was out to get the victory.
Having lost to Mole Valley earlier in the season, spoiling their run of wins, the girls – led by coaches Chris Balchin and Danny McCann – were prepared and raring to go.
On the day, the Panthers came out of the gate strong, securing an early lead with a goal from striker Rebee-Lea. But despite plenty of action around the opposition goal in the first half and some solid work by our mid-field and defence to make life difficult for Mole Valley, the team was unable to follow up with a second. Mole Valley snuck in an equaliser from a corner just before the half time whistle.

The second half kept the score a tie, so at 1-1 the match went to penalties. After a tense shoot-out, the Panthers emerged victorious with 4 goals to Mole Valley’s 2.

The Panthers have been consistent leaders in the Surrey County Women’s and Girls League Division One, and in their first competitive season the girls have really showcased their quality and the dedicated development work the coaches have put in. Congratulations on winning the Cup!
